Prayer diary 31st October 2019

Pray_Love_Walk_Praise

Today’s Bible reading: 1 Timothy 2 vv 1-4
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

United Kingdom

Once again we have come to a promised political deadline in our country, one which was supposed to see us leaving the European Union, with a negotiated deal. We have been at this point 3 times before and the latest deadline is 31st January 2020. Whichever way you voted, or did not vote, I feel that we must pray to God and ask Him to support our leaders in their task of governing the country.

Heavenly Father,  we give thanks that You are a great and powerful God, full of Grace and Mercy, giving wisdom to those who seek Your Will and giving Salvation to all who believe in Your Son Jesus Christ.
We lift up to you Boris Johnson, our Prime Minister, and pray for him in the difficult task he has taken on. Lord, we pray for our Parliament, as it comes to an end dissolving to make way for an election on 12th December.
Father, we pray for the resolution of the main issue facing our government, the withdrawal of the UK from the EU.
We thank You for the peace and the freedom which exists in our country, including the freedom to vote to choose our representatives in government.
We pray that the election campaign will be honest, serious and peaceful, informative and giving voters a proper choice.
Lord, help us to choose people who are upright, honest, noble and Godly. May we we given wisdom to select the best candidate for both the country and for the issues that it faces.
Above all we want the Name of Jesus  to be glorified in our country.
We pray in Jesus’ Holy Name,

Amen.

Israel

Whilst on the subject of government, in Israel the elected politicians are finding it difficult to agree on a governing coalition.

Heavenly Father, We pray for the precious country of Israel. We ask that You will intervene in talks to ensure that a strong, stable and just government emerges from these talks.
As Israel always faces threats from the borders, we pray that You will watch them and protect them from evil.
In the Precious Name of Jeshua.  Amen.
