Prayer Diary Sunday 30th June 2019

Pray_Love_Walk_Praise

Today’s Bible reading: 1 Corinthians 1 vv 18-19
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
For it is written:

‘I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.’

In our own churches

Having been challenged personally by events this year we have concerns about biblical teaching in our own churches. There is little we can do in our own strength to change things. Prayer is our way of petitioning our Lord to rectify situations in our churches. Our concern is the preaching of the truth of the Word of God, in faith. In 2011 John preached a sermon (link) relating to this and he stands by every word, the need for us Christians to believe, in faith – is even more relevant today.

Heavenly Father,  we thank You that You are the great and powerful God of Creation, maker of all things. Thank you Lord for Your works of Creation, Salvation and for giving us eternal life through Your Son Jesus.
Lord, we lift up to You our churches surrounding us, asking that You correct preaching which is contrary to Your Word in the Bible. Lord, we pray that you will correct and guide errant preaching by your Holy Spirit.
Lord, where those preachers will not listen to the Spirit, replace them with those who are true to Your Word.
Father, we can only show love to others by showing them the true Gospel of Christ and we ask You to help us to bring a revival of faith to Your Churches.
Make us true envoys of Your Truth and Salvation, through Jesus Christ we ask it. Amen.

Sri Lanka bombings

Prayer diary: Monday 22nd April 2019

Today’s Bible reading: Matthew 5 vv 8-12

Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

I don’t know a great deal about Sri Lanka, except that there are about 22 million people living there, in relative peace since the civil war ended about 10 years ago. I do know that yesterday there were 8 separate deadly attacks, many aimed specifically at Christians who were attending Easter services. I know that the people affected deserve our prayer support as they come under attack from evil forces. Let’s pray for the people of Sri Lanka.

Heavenly Father, we lift up the country of Sri Lanka up to You at this time. Lord, You are all seeing and all knowing, so we ask You to uphold those in need as they come to terms with what has happened – and is still happening in their home towns and cities.
Lord, we pray for them to know the comfort of Your presence through the Holy Spirit. We pray that You will have people put into place to help them with injuries, both physical and emotionally, to help them to cope with the damage and loss that they have suffered.
We pray that those responsible for planning the attacks will be caught and that justice will be done.
Father, we also pray against future attacks, give the government and security forces intelligence and wisdom to thwart further attacks and locate the people still plotting murder and destruction.
We pray for Your will to be done in Sri Lanka, through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.

Life – Past Present and Future

“Life, Past Present and Future” is a new publication by Malcolm Hedley, which is an evangelical tool produced as a booklet. The Hedleys used to live in Spain, where they were “Costa Blanca Mission” in Torrevieja and have relocated to England where they continue to serve the Lord in Evangelism.

We recommend this booklet and pray that all who read it will respond to the message and put their faith for their future into God’s hands acknowledging the saving Grace that flows from Jesus Christ, his sacrificial death and resurrection.

The new booklet is available as a PDF download here thanks to permission from Malcolm.

Prayer for Iran 3rd September 2018

Prayer for Iran: Monday 3rd September 2018

Pray_Love_Walk_Praise

Today’s Bible reading: 1 Peter 5:10 “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”

Iran

Iran has sentenced four Christians to imprisonment to a total of 45 years in prison for “membership of a group with the purpose of disrupting national security”. That “group” is a small house church.

Iran’s mullah-led Islamic regime has sentenced four Christians to harsh prison terms for practising their faith. Pastor Victor Bet-Tamraz and his wife Shamiram Issavi, who are ethnic Assyrian Christians, and Amin Afshar Naderi and Hadi Asgari, who are Christian converts from Islam, were sentenced to a combined total of 45 years in prison, reported CBN News. The charges were conducting illegal church activities and spreading propaganda that threaten national security. ”
These Christians were arrested solely for practising their Christian faith, including attending Christmas gatherings and organising house churches,” Mike Ansari of the group Heart4Iran told CBN News. Bet-Tamraz was arrested in 2014 when plain-clothed security forces raided his home during a Christmas party. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2017 by an Iranian Revolutionary Court along with Asgari for “forming a group,” meaning their church activity, “composed of more than two people with the purpose of disrupting national security.” The court also sentenced Naderi to five years in prison for allegedly insulting Islam.  (world Net Daily)

Heavenly Father, we lift up these four faithful followers of Your son, Jesus, to You in prayer. We ask that you will bless greatly these four who are persecuted for their faith.
We also pray for the country of Iran.
We pray that freedom of religion will be established in that land as the present government are replaced by moderate people who care about the human rights of their countrymen and women.
Father, we pray that You will act to shorten their time in prison and that You will act to shorten the tenure of this government, as they persecute Christians imprisoning anyone that they fear might threaten their hold on power in that land.
Father we pray that in prison, their witness will be a light in the darkness, uphold them and keep them as only You know how, oh Lord our God, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
