Today’s Bible reading:  Acts 3:1-8

Peter and John went to the Temple one afternoon to take part in the three o’clock prayer service. As they approached the Temple, a man lame from birth was being carried in. Each day he was put beside the Temple gate, the one called the Beautiful Gate, so he could beg from the people going into the Temple. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for some money.
Peter and John looked at him intently, and Peter said, “Look at us!” The lame man looked at them eagerly, expecting some money. But Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold for you. But I’ll give you what I have. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, get up and walk!”
Then Peter took the lame man by the right hand and helped him up. And as he did, the man’s feet and ankles were instantly healed and strengthened. He jumped up, stood on his feet, and began to walk! Then, walking, leaping, and praising God, he went into the Temple with them.

SPAIN:

So soon it is Boxing Day, (no real equivalent in Spain) and Christmas is over. We now look forward in hope to a New Year with new situations, new challenges and newly won souls for Jesus Christ.

Heavenly Father,  as we move towards the end of another year, we look to You for guidance, for strength, health and support in all that we do, in Your Holy Name. Father, we thank You that You have been with us every step of the way in 2013, and we have faith that will be the same as we seek Your will and serve You in 2014.

We continue to pray for L, she is very ill and has gone to England with her son. We thank God, that her family are taking responsibility. We continue to pray for a miracle of healing and health in her life.

Loving Heavenly Father, we lift up L to You in prayer, because we know that You are capable, and powerful in all things. That when there seems little  hope, You say otherwise and give hope to all people, through Jesus Christ your Son, who healed the blind, the lame and the sick, even raising people from the dead. We pray that you will strengthen and surround her family as they care for her in the UK. Bless them, Lord, in Jesus Name, Amen.

Today’s Bible reading: Joel 2:28-32
And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come.
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call.

SPAIN:

We are a day early this week as we needed to change our schedule.
We’ve met up with L’s son who came to see her and we pray for her as she consults with doctors and considers decisions as to her future.
We met S & H who have concerns for their son, as he is job hunting in Spain and despite having a degree is finding it very difficult.
Our friend J is having tests and treatment for illness.
Di is having scans in preparation for an operation to release a trapped nerve.

Loving Heavenly Father, We lift up all of these people to You in prayer as You know our concerns, You alone have the power to change circumstances, to heal sickness, knowing all things, even the number of our days. For L, we ask for an honest assessment from doctors and wisdom for L in making decisions for her future. We thank you for her son, who is seeking the best for her, on his visit to Spain. We thank You for safe travels and pray for Your blessing on his return journey. We pray that L will have peace of mind, freedom from pain and be healed of this illness.
We pray for S&H’s son as he continues in his job search. A difficult  task in a country with high unemployment, and a depressed economy. However, Lord, we can trust in You for Your guidance in this situation, that he will find the work that he needs to make him self sufficient and able to branch out from his family home and be independent.
For J, Lord, we ask that You reward her faith with healing, and that you give the doctors the skills to take the correct action, as they do their utmost to aid that healing.
For Di, Lord we also pray for skill of doctors and surgeons as they release this trapped nerve, that it goes very well and full mobility is restored. A
men.

Once again Lord, we pray for this Nation, asking that You restore the government of Spain, at all levels, to honesty and integrity, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Israel:

The border of Israel and Lebanon is tense after an Israeli soldier was shot by a Lebanese army soldier, who was allegedly not acting under orders. This happened on Sunday evening 15th December, and Lebanon have arrested their own soldier for the shooting. The Iranian nuclear talks in Geneva are off, then on again, as the Iranians seem to be masters at playing for time. Israeli PM Netanyahu has made it clear that he thinks that the whole proposed deal is a mistake.

Heavenly Father, once more we lift up the Middle East situation to You, apart from what was mentioned, we pray for the Syria situation, for peace in that land, so that the millions of refugees in surrounding countries of Jordan and Turkey may return. We pray for the government and IDF in Israel, that they make good, timely decisions as to how best to defend their borders from the instability that surrounds them. We thank You that You know the plan for the region, the beginning from the end and we pray that many will come to Your Son Jesus Christ and declare Him their Saviour, amongst the turmoil and strife. Praise the God of eternal Salvation, for both Jews and Gentiles. Amen.

Today’s Bible reading: Psalm 90:13-17
Return, O Lord!
How long?
And have compassion on Your servants.
Oh, satisfy us early with Your mercy,
That we may rejoice and be glad all our days!
Make us glad according to the days in which You have afflicted us,
The years in which we have seen evil.
Let Your work appear to Your servants,
And Your glory to their children.
And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us,
And establish the work of our hands for us;
Yes, establish the work of our hands.

SPAIN:

Sometimes we have to be reminded that our spiritual strength comes from God, and through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Without the Lord, we are nothing, spiritually speaking. Without the breath of the Lord we are impotent. James 5:16 says: “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” We, ourselves, have no righteousness, except that which comes from our faith in Christ as our Saviour. He cleanses us from our sins and restores us, so that when we pray – God sees us as righteous, as we are covered through the shed blood of our Saviour. With a sincere attitude in prayer we believe that prayer changes things.

Heavenly Father, You know that there are times when our faith is tested and sometimes we have doubts. We are frail people who need to stay close to You and Your Word in all situations. Father we thank You that when we doubt, You are still there, when we are faithless, You are still faithful, so we pray again, in faith, knowing that You have the final Word, that may be healing, or restoration, always having our long term welfare in Your hands. We ask You, Lord, by Your Spirit to increase our faith and our effectiveness in prayer and intercession for the people of Spain.

We are still very mindful of L who is suffering pain and discomfort, but stays cheerful as she looks to her Saviour for healing and for peace of mind.

Lord, we again raise up L to You in prayer, asking that You show Your power and love to her, that she will be free of pain and regain her mobility. We pray for her peace of mind and physical healing, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

As Christmas approaches family relationships are brought to the fore, whether they be good or not so good.

Loving Heavenly Father, as we make preparations for Christmas, we remember the birth of Christ our Saviour whilst meeting up with family members, some we have not seen for a long time, some where relationships are strained and need repairing. Father give us the humility to accept others as they are, whilst showing Your love without compromising our faith and beliefs. Father we ask that You bless families that are under strain for whatever reason. You created us to be families, Lord, so help us to love and cherish one another. For those families that are split up, through divorce, or other difficult circumstances, we ask that You show them that they are loved, that they are valued and most of all open to salvation through Christ. Jesus Christ being Your “Eternal Gift” and the true meaning of Peace and Goodwill to all men at Christmas. Amen.

Pray_Love_Walk_Praise

Today’s Bible reading: John 17:9-23
“I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine, and I am glorified in them. Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled. But now I come to You, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.
“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.

SPAIN:

UNITY
Being UK ex-pats means we tend to hear more of the ex-pat Christians in Spain, than the Spanish speaking fellowships. Many of the English speaking fellowships seek to have links with UK denominations which have a controlling influence. Because of the broad make-up of ex-pat churches, (Anglicans, Baptists, Pentecostals, Brethren etc) many members find the pull towards a particular direction difficult to handle as the theology does not fit their understanding. We recognise and strongly support Christians who wish to meet together to encourage each other in prayer and build each other up. At the same time, we pray against dogmatic theology, which is often based on tenuous premises or interpretations of scripture which are not mainstream.

Heavenly Father, we praise You that You are in control of Your creation. We ask that You cement your servants together in Your love, and in the core beliefs of Christianity. We pray the prayer Your Son Jesus Christ prayed in John 17, for unity of believers, us in You, Lord, and You in us. We believe that with good teaching, good fellowship and relying on You, that we can be light and salt to the world. We want to see the name of Jesus Christ on the lips of thousands of people newly worshipping the true Lord and Saviour of all mankind. Father, we pray for ex-pat fellowships in Spain, that they recognise one another’s differences, as You do, treating them as strengths, allowing each other to be themselves, whilst coming together to serve You in the sowing of the gospel in Spain. Father, strengthen us by Your Spirit, that Spirit that brings all good things together for the good of the Church. May we follow Jesus Christ, faithfully, putting our hands to the plough, and never looking back. Help us to accept each other in Christ as we draw on Your help, Lord.
Amen.

Please pray for L who is still suffering with illness. Pray for P who has serious problems with her hip, causing pain and immobility. We pray also for a couple, who have to return to the UK for a parent’s funeral.

Heavenly Father we ask again for You to work a miracle in L’s body, of healing. We pray in Jesus’ Name for freedom from disease, freedom from pain and peace of mind. For P we pray that she will also be free from pain, have freedom of movement and be able to walk unassisted. We pray for the couple, that they will know Your comfort in a time of sorrow, and that the gospel is preached at the funeral service. Amen

Today’s Bible reading: Ephesians 6:12-13
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

SPAIN:

Our friend, L, is still having medical tests, and for now the operation on her leg has been postponed. L is unsure of what is happening and needs reassurance about the future. She has her faith in Jesus Christ as her Saviour and she needs our prayers to uphold her at a difficult time.

Heavenly Father, we again look to You, asking you for healing from whatever is causing the problems to L. Father, we ask You for a miracle in her life, please show us Your power as we pray in faith for healing of her body and peace for her mind. We pray also for wisdom for the doctors who are treating her and for her friends who are supporting her in her illness. Heavenly Father, may Your merciful will be done, in Jesus Name,
Amen.

The government.

Father, we also pray for the government of Spain. We pray for them to act in the best interests of the people, to be honest and straight in all of their dealings, acting in a way honouring to God, and thus allowing each politician a clear conscience. Amen.

Israel:

The USA and Europe and other major players have come to some 11th hour agreement with Iran over nuclear issues. The USA are using terms like “rolling back the programme” whereas Iran are saying they have kept their rights to enrich Uranium. Israel do not trust this agreement in any way.

Heavenly Father, we know that we are not wrestling with flesh and blood but are fighting a spiritual battle against evil, against the rulers of darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places. Father we recognise this, and call upon You and pray for Good to defeat evil in this battle. We pray against falsehood and false peace agreements which produce “peace, where there is no peace”. (Jeremiah 6:14). Father, we pray for true peace, a lasting peace which comes from You, the Peace of Jerusalem and the security of all of those people who belong to Your Bride.  Amen.
