Today’s Bible reading: 1 Peter 4: vv12-14
Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.
But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.
If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

Tanzania

Reports from World Watch Monitor speak of SIX churches being burnt down in the last week. Read the report here. We support our brothers and sisters in Christ in East Africa in prayer.

Heavenly Father, we pray for our brothers and sisters in Tanzania, in the Bukoba region near Lake Victoria. We pray that they will be strong in their faith, regarding this persecution as a test which with Your  help, Lord, they will overcome. We pray that they will not fear the enemy, but put on the armour of God each day, that the power of Your Word and Your Spirit will protect them and guide them in their walk with Jesus Christ.
We also pray for the people who carried out these acts, that they will be convicted of their sin, will repent and know that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Saviour. Father we pray for peace and love to win over hatred.
Lord, Your word assures us that anything is possible with you, we pray that these churches will be rapidly rebuilt, both in bricks and mortar, but also in Christian followers, that they will have hundreds more believers, as they see Your hand at work amongst Your flock. Thank you Father for hearing our prayer – through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.

Syria

Russia has started to take action in support of President Assad which may help to bring an end to the 5 years of civil war. We hope and pray for an end to this war soon.

Heavenly Father, again we cry out to You for an end to this savage war in Syria. We pray that people will once again be able to live in peace, going about their daily lives, being able to feel safe in their own homes. We pray that refugees will be able to return to their towns and villages, rebuilding their lives and homes.
Father we pray for those bereaved by the war, that they may be comforted, that the hatred between factions be lessened and eventually forgotten. Lord we pray for wisdom for those in authority to end the war, dealing with ordinary people with fairness and respect.
We pray that those with faith in Christ will be protected and that they will support one another in their needs and through prayer, and by Your help, will spread the gospel of love and Salvation in this war-torn land. In Jesus’ Name we pray, Amen.
